When is the best time to visit Barcelona? While you may have limited options when you can plan a trip to Barcelona due to work or family commitments, when you visit can have a huge impact on your enjoyment.
For me, summer is generally the worst time to visit Barcelona as the city is packed with tourists and many locals leave to escape the crowds and the heat. It is also when you are more likely to see examples of over-tourism due to the sheer number of visitors, and the accompanying anti-tourist demonstrations that hit headlines every summer.
The crowds, weather and accommodation prices vary greatly throughout the year which is certainly worth considering, and there are lots of different events taking place each month which can also be a great starting point to plan a trip around.
My personal favourite time of year in Barcelona is the spring and autumn, from April to June and September to the end of October. I also love December as it is full of Christmas cheer, with festive markets and decorations all over the city.
The best time to visit Barcelona really depends on what you enjoy doing, your budget, and how flexible you can be with your travel plans, so I’ve broken it down month-by-month for you. If you don’t find your month here yet, let me know and I’ll get it published asap for you!
I’ve also got specific articles about the best time to visit Barcelona, and the worst time to visit Barcelona, depending on whether you like hot weather, dislike crowds, are travelling on a budget or want to watch FC Barcelona play a match, so if you’re flexible about when you can visit, start there!
Then there are special events and festivals that might help you decide when to visit Barcelona.
